Our Story

Cornwall Swim Company have come a long way in the last few years.
Here’s our story…

The unprecedented year of 2020 gave us an unplanned break from our normal lives.Lockdown gave us an opportunity to explore our back yard. Living here on the south coast of Cornwall, we felt very lucky and counted our blessings. We began to walk the coastal paths, walking for miles at a time. Walking turned into exploring, off the beaten path, new routes, new paths. We discovered new hidden coastal gems. Then with heat of the Summer of 2020, we not only walked the coast, though began finishing our walks with a swim.

Swimming gave us a moment to pause, a moment to breathe. The ocean wrapped us up in a cool, calming hug.All the worry and the stresses of current life paused...just for a moment. The positive benefits of exercising in nature, were true! Vitamin sea - for mind, body and soul!

We told our friends and family of the positivity we were feeling and so our little group expanded, scooping up more like-minded souls.  We had discovered our tribe! The pure joy of bobbing around in the ocean, observing the seasons change, watching the clouds and the sea birds, and occasionally saying hello to curious seals. The unpredictable Cornish weather enhanced our senses and made us appreciate Mother Nature that little bit more. We all felt very blessed and still do, when we are swimming under glorious sunshine, showers and a rainbow! We have kept swimming; it is now part of our world.

After a year, we realised from our own swim experiences, that having the right kit is essential!

We decided to design and create a swim robe that enables you to fully enjoy coastal swimming with all its unpredictable weather!  From mizzle drizzle, blowing an absolute hooley, to totally chucking it down, then beaming sun – we have it all here in Cornwall, whatever the time of year!

Our robes are lightweight and portable so can be squished into a rucksack - great for offbeat adventures, or just in case the weather changes! They are practical, waterproof, windproof, keep you toasty and come in a range of really lovely colours! With deep pockets to keep your essentials safe and fingers toasty.Perfect for Dawny’s, sundowners, camping or whatever your adventure!

Whether you are a toe dipper, swimmer, surfer, boarder, adventurer, camper or perhaps just love bobbing around in the sea followed by a good old chat and a cuppa afterwards. Having the right gear in your kit bag, will help you get changed quickly, stay warm and cosy.

We are so happy to hear that more people seem to be falling in love with sea swimming. Like-minded people also recognising the positive holistic health and wellbeing benefits of cold water. Since 2022 we are delighted to support our local friends Salty Swims, they run socially prescribed cold-water safety swim sessions, to help people safely explore the positive health and wellbeing benefits of cold-water swimming.

Our Cornwall Swim tribe has grown and therefore so has our product range!

We have listened to our tribe and developed kit to suit our own cold-water experience and our customer’s needs. For example, the newest 2024 robe range has a large hot water bottle pocket!  You can wrap your jumpers and bottoms around the water bottle whilst you are in the sea. So, once you have gotten dry with your CSC hooded towelling poncho, you can pop on your warm clothes, then snuggle up in your changing robe. This helps with a gradual warming of core temperature, after dipping in the sea in the winter and spring. We are here supporting you to enjoy your regular dose of vitamin sea all year round!

In March 2024 we decided to take the plunge and open a shop here at home in Pentewan, nr Mevagissey, South Cornwall.  Our shop is open five days a week, with examples of all our changing robes, hooded towelling changing ponchos, dry bags, floats, waterproof phone cases, hats, woolly socks and much more! Why not pop in say hi and have a browse. We would love to hear about your favourite swim spots and what cold water swimming means to you.

Till then… We are still swimming with our tribe, replenishing our cup with Mother Nature.

To be honest, we hope we always will!

See you soon
